The Importance of Coverage and Cut-Aways

coverage

definition - The size of the image a lens can produce
this is important because it defines the quality of the picture. a small coverage shown on a large screen will look pretty pathetic. the bigger the coverage, the better quality the film.

cut-aways

definition: a cutaway is the interruption of a continuously filmed action by inserting a view of something else. It is usually, although not always, followed by a cutback to the first shot.

they do this alot in family guy. for example: when peter says that he doesnt trust chickens, it cuts to a ridiculously long scene with him fighting one, then it cuts back to where we left off.
