thunderbirds shot by shot

the first shot we see is a quick zoom out shot of the space station which zooms out from the number 5. this shot is repeated for thunderbirds 4,3 and 2. the backgrounds are really plain and simple but the thunderbirds are colouful, vibrant and eye catching which indicates that they are special in some way and the thunderbirds importance. theres a non-diegetic voice over each of the seperate shots stating the thunderbirds number which isn't only a cleverly crafted introduction to the main aspect of the drama but a count down to the program making it more enjoyable and exciting.

thunderbird 1 is represented differently. everything used in the other shots is used in the thunderbird 1 shot except we see it take off aswell. we don't really see much of the live action before this so this adds to the introduction o0f what the drama is going to be like. it's almost a countdown to an explosion of entertainment. there's also a non-diegetic voice over the shot saying, "thunderbirds are go".

the title screen appears with a simple cloud background and the word thunderbirds jumps out at you and changes colours from red to green which refers back to "the thunderbirds are go". green is associated with going. for instance, on a traffic light.

a lot of quick cuts appea next. they are almost so quick that you can't quite atch them ut it adds to thye excitement and pase of the drama. they are all mostly still shots from a side view. the shots are of thunderbirds doing there job and it's really gritty as some of the things you see are dangerous. it introduces you to the characters when put in a dangerous situation.

shots include penelope in her car doing a leap into the air and landing. various takeoffs and flight times with thunderbird 2 and 3 and thunderbird 4 in the water. it ends with an explosion on a bridge and cuts right after the plane crashes into the bridgeand blows up so there's an aspect of excitement and a case of wanting to know what happens next so it keeps you watchng. the music is very lively and fast pased. the explosions and action within the scene go in time with the music and works well with it. after that shot it goes on to title screen again.

the next few shots are stills of the characters but they are intorduced in an indicing and vibrant fashion making the drama more intersting and different. each character is blocked out to begin with and then after a few seconds they are visible. each character is introduced with its own machinery or hint as to what they do. for example the tracy family all have their assigned thunderbirds in the background because they are the ones who fly them but brain has a laboritory in his background so that indicates that he's intelligent and a bit of a scientist.

the last shot is my favourite. it's of a factory in a desert landscape and it's the longest shot in the title sequence. it fades in and the word videcolor appears in front of the factory. and then the factory blows up with several different explosions. it's a good shot becaue it's justifying videcolours work and that they can produce amazing looking television programs.
